What are you reading right now?
The more literary equivalent to What are you listening to right now, I'm asking you, what are you reading, right now? What's it about?
Today, I finished a book called Men I've loved before, by Adele Parks. I bought it at the Stanstead airport, just because I could, and I'm a little eh about it. I mean, it's chicklit-ish, and it's generally not my type of read usually, I just got it to pass the time, but it was... entertaining. Basically, it's a couple who never wanted to have children, but suddenly the husband starts wanting kids, and all starts to go downhill from there, as the wife starts to think that maybe one of her exes would have been her One.
I'm also reading Harry Potter und das Feuerkelch, which is Harry Potter 4, in German. It's soooo difficult! But they always are at the beginning...
Then I started a book about German resistance and submission during the third Reich, by François Roux. The author is French, and I doubt there is an English version, but it's called Auriez-vous crié "Heil Hitler"? : soumission et résistance au nazisme. I've only read the introduction, and it's pretty loaded, but I can tell it will be interesting.

I'm just about to start Calculating God by Robert J Sawyer for fun, I'm currently reading "King Lear" by Shakespeare for class, excerpts from The Book of Showings by Julian of Norwich for another class, and I'm starting In the Fog of the Seasons' End by Alex la Guma for yet another class.
I'm also reading my Intro to Christian Ethics textbook, but that's not fiction >.>

Re: What are you reading right now?
I just finished The Imperfectionists by Tom Rachman. It's about an English-language newspaper based in Rome. Each chapter is like a stand-alone short story about one member of the newspaper staff in 2007 coupled with a shot of the founding and subsequent path of the paper. It's cool and I highly recommend it.
Now I'm starting The Hunger Games triology, which seems promising so far. Plus a ton of textbooks, which don't *exaggerated sigh of boredom*.

I hate bookstores. I hate them. They robbed me of moneyyyy. And of time to do homework. Now I have to read, and I'm already halfway through Malphas: 1. Le cas des casiers carnassiers, by Patrick Senécal. IT'S SO COOL. I LOVE THE AUTHOR. I seriously do. He is amazing. Awesome. And all. It talks about a series of bloody murders in a Cégep, where people are found killed inside lockers.

Our government is cool and handed off these book vouchers to school/college/university students. 200 bucks each person. I spent 100 bucks on Jodi Picoult novels, unsurprisingly. I've only just finished Picture Perfect two days ago. Now, I'm reading Handle With Care.

Re: What are you reading right now?
God, I think all my teachers have this evil plan where they must overload me with literature (sometimes of dubious interest).
So for my German teacher, I'm reading Spiel des Schicksals, by Barbara Wood, which really is an American novel translated, but w/e. It's just bad, and I don't think any language can make it better. And reading it 25 pages a week, like my teacher asked, is pretty much extending the torture for two months.
In Spanish, we recently all just pretended to understand Cervantes' Rinconete y Cortadillo, although we didn't, and in the coming months will have to repeat the exploit by reading Marianela, which is by, uh...Benito Pérez Galdos. Hours of fun, I'm sure.

Re: What are you reading right now?
Right now.... I'm reading The Wizard of Oz which will be followed by the other Oz books. I'm in an Oz kick right now because I just found a tabletop game set in the Oz world and I want to freshen up my knowledge before seeking to join the game. (The guy at the store said that the creator of this tabletop game made it in the store and said they still play fairly regularly so I'm hoping to take part!)

Re: What are you reading right now?
Hôtel Adlon by Philip Kerr. He needs to stop writing amazing books. Honestly, I kid you not, it's not even funny how addicted I am to Bernhard Gunther's adventures. *sigh*
I've also started to read Université Inc. co-authored by Éric Martin and some other guy of the IRIS institute, and that's non-fiction, and talks about all the crap that's happening to our universities. Should be quite interesting.

I'm reading The Great Gatsby for English Literature. It's not my usual reading, but I've read it before and I really enjoy the novel. Definitely a classic, everyone should read it if they have the chance, and it's not a very long book either.

I loved reading Gatsby!
I had to read it for my AP Language class last year, and it was definitely a good read.
Right now, I'm finishing Hamlet for AP Lit, and I'm reading Jane Eyre on my own, when I have the time to pick it up. Both of which, I love.

I'm reading Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel and it's so good, my friend Jonathan told me to read it and I've completely been swallowed by this book and because I've been so engrossed in this book, I have neglected to finish The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory which is also a fantastic book if you like historical fiction, I only have a chapter or two of that left so I should really finish it.

Re: What are you reading right now?
Gave myself a day of rest from exam-studying today and read Second Glance by Jodi Picoult. Truly the most emotionally draining novels I've read in a while. Stretches the limit of the beliefs a bit, too, and I'm not sure I really can accept some parts. But as a whole, it's wonderful and inspiring, albeit rather depressing.
Queer book to read for the purpose of destressing, admittedly. Oh well.
Might also be worth mentioning that now I'm starting on The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides. My reading preferences simply gets queerer and queerer.

High Fidelity by Nick Hornby at the moment. I like it, but it's not something that I've been able to just sit down and read for long stretches of time. I really want to finish it though, because next on my list is Persepolis.

I have Second Glance in my stack of books to read next to my bed. I'm glad that it's good. That just makes me want to read it even more. Haha.
Also, I finished Clan of the Cave Bear and started on The Amityville Horror which is really interesting so far.

Re: What are you reading right now?
I'm just about to start The Lions of Al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay (who, by the way, I was pleased to find out is Canadian). I loved Tigana by him, so I decided to try something else. Whereas Tigana was set in a fictional world based on Italian city states, the world for Lions was based on medieval Spain!!

Re: What are you reading right now?
After much thought, I read the Hunger Games series. It took me less than a week, because once I got started, I was pretty addicted. I loved it, and even though I saw the ending coming, I still had to hold the tears back while I read the last chapter and the Epilogue at work. (Good thing my job is so slow...)
I started the first book in the Game of Thrones series the same day, but I decided that with the Hunger Games still so fresh in my head, I needed to give it a little time before I jumped right in. That and there's this SUPER annoying girl that asks me every five minutes how my book is. Which distracts me. Ugh.
Anyway... Yeah.

Re: What are you reading right now?
I decided philosophy would be an interesting thing to read up on during the summer, since apparently it's the class I miss the most from school.
So I went to the library, couldn't find Bakounine or Patočka, but. I got myself other books, and I've been meaning to reread the few I have at home. This summer will be Nietzsche-filled. And Heidegger, and Schopenhauer. And Marx, and Noam Chomsky (whom I know first and foremost because of him being, oh, I don't know, the father of modern linguistics), and this book on the study of anarchy. Much fun will be had this summer.
So today I started the marquis de Sade's Les infortunes de la vertu, which is uh, interesting, and not as hard to read as I'd thought. Interesting is really the best word I can use to describe it. It's like... weird wouldn't even cover it.

Re: What are you reading right now?
When I went to Penn State, I took a philosophy course. I didn't go all the time, but when I did, I liked it. One of the assigned books for class was Aristotle's Ethics. I'm pretty sure that my favorite quote in the world came from that book, but I can't be too sure. That was a loooong time ago.

Re: What are you reading right now?
I am finally back to reading and I am currently reading: Paper Towns by John Green. I've managed to read half the book in a day whilst I was at the university Open day aha. It's actually really interesting. Not going to lie, it was a bit boring at first in the beginning but I started to really get into it and It's actually a realy good read. It's a teenage genre book but it has many aspects like detective like, friendship, thrills etc. It's also quite funny! I'm going to guess that it's also going to turn into love or something like that in the end by the way it's going but it was a pretty good choice since it's the first proper book I've read since like HG or HP ;3
I have also made my dad buy the book: The perks of being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. This I haven't started yet but it looks good by the looks of the movie trailer which Emma Watson is in <3 yay, but I shall be reading it the moment I finish Paper Towns

Re: What are you reading right now?
*snick*
After finishing Jostein Gaarder's Sophie's World, I thought I'd be better armed to face Heidegger's Off the beaten track (Wikipedia says it's called that... the original title is Holzwege, and what I'm reading is Chemins qui ne mènent nulle part), but well, I am not. It's SO COMPLICATED.
So instead I started reading the Communist Manifesto, by Engels and Marx. I am so edjumakating myself this summer. XD

Re: What are you reading right now?
Right now, I'm reading Under Heaven by Guy Gavriel Kay (Lions of Al-Rassan got pushed back to being after Under Heaven) on my Kobo, and Divergent by Veronica Roth (I have the actual book for this, but first read a free preview on my Kobo)
Both are interesting, although I've got to say, Kay really makes you think with his novels. Nothing really falls into place until about six or seven chapters later, and I'm sure I won't get the whole picture until the end, just like with Tigana
